Every year I go to northern Maine to the Allagash Wilderness. It is a week of kayaking, camping and fishing and also a lot of photography. The water of the Allagash is one of the subjects I try and capture in many different ways. This photograph was taken one evening after a rain shower and resulted in a beautiful and vibrant sunset due to the clouds. It was taken with a 17-40mm lens and handheld. To me, this photograph is typical of many beautiful sunsets and sunrises where the usually turbulent water goes completely calm and shots like this are possible.

Joshua Tree National Park
A couple of years ago I visited Joshua Tree National Park. This is a truly amazing place with many interesting plants, animals and of course the Joshua Trees. This shot is taken in the park just after sunset. There were bats circling overhead and beautiful flowers opening with the cool evening air. I wanted a shot that showed the atmosphere of dusk as well as the open spaces and trees. In the foreground you can see a fallen tree that is charred from fire. Love the texture this brings to the image.
